Dear Chess Friends Reykjavik Open 2009 will be organized by the Icelandic Chess Federation and the newly founded Reykjavik Chess Academy. We, the organizers, would like to welcome all chess players to Reykjavik and participate in the tournament and additional activities. As only 150 players can participate, we can not guarantee all the interesting parties their place. We are sorry, but „first come, first served“ is the rule of the day.
- 9 round international tournament open for all players with FIDE rating above 2000. - Rate of play is 90 min. + 15 minutes after 40 moves. Increment of 30 sec. for every move.

GM/IM – Free FM / Over 2300 elo FIDE: 50 euros FIDE 2150 - 2300: 75 euros FIDE 2000-2150: 100 euros Under 2000 or unrated players might get an exception if they are visiting with other higher rated players. These seats will be very limited however and the fee is 200 euros per player. Reykjavik Blitz: First qualifier – 15 euros Second qualifier – 20 euros
